Karen Gold was one of the fashion designers showing a preview of her designs for SS16. I exclusively interviewed Karen to find out a bit more about her and her thoughts around key fashion pieces for this upcoming season.

First Tell me a bit about yourself?

My name is Karen Gold and I have a genuine passion for fashion, I love to be different and stand out

NYFW Interview With Alexis Walsh

I interviewed Alexis Walsh during NYFW to find out a bit more about her and her inspirations towards her designs. Alexis is such a friendly and bubbly person and has a really inspirational background behind her so it was a pleasure to speak with her. Please see the full exclusive interview below:

Tell me a bit about yourself?

I’m a designer and artist living in New York City. I graduated Parsons The New School for Design in 2015, with a degree in Integrated Design focusing on fashion design and product design.

Why did you decide to be a fashion designer?

I have a background in fine arts, and took private art lessons every week from when I was 6 until I was 18. Initially I was interested in sculpture, and that eventually led to creating wearable sculptures using materials like metal and plastic. From there, I knew that I needed to explore fashion design, and also that I wanted to continue my work with structural materials.

What are the inspirations behind your designs?

For my latest work, LYSIS COLLECTION, I was inspired by virulent forms and deterioration. “Lysis” is a biological term for the stage in which a cell breaks down after being attacked by a virus, and this collection is constructed to mimic the growth of viral structures while blending organic shapes with rigid silhouettes. The collection is completely sewn by hand, and combines 3D printing technology and CAD modelling with traditional handcraft.

I get my inspiration from art, people, cultures and nature.

Haircare Do’s And Don’ts

haircare dos and donts

Healthy hair is what every girl wants, and everyday steps that we do can be the cause of dry, dull and brittle hair. So this is why I am going to share with you some of the do’s and don’ts of haircare, so you can work towards getting your locks beautiful and shiny.

1. Don’t Wash Your Hair Everyday

Some of you may already know this and others may not! but it is very important not to wash your hair everyday. So why is this?

For those with dry hair washing your hair everyday will dry out your hair and scalp. I am one of those people who unfortunately have dry hair and I only wash my hair twice a week. From making these changes I have seen significant improvements in my hair.

For those with greasy hair washing your hair everyday can strip your hair of nutrients and natural oils that your hair needs to be healthy. Try skipping a day, washing your hair every other day. If you feel your hair is too greasy try wearing it in an up-do. Continue Reading

New Year Goals And Resolutions 2016

Happy New Year To You All!

goals and resolutions 2016

So it’s that time of the year again where many of you will set your new years goals and resolutions. I personally don’t like new years but that’s just me, to me it’s just another day but that day is the fresh start of a new year. For me that means it’s time to set those goals for the year ahead! I personally like to set goals throughout the year but the new year is a good place I like to start from.

When I set goals I like to write them down. It’s a simple thing to do however you may be thinking this seems meaningless as you already know what you want to achieve. But by writing them down it will make you work harder and you’ll be more likely to achieve them, it may seem silly but it’s true.

This year I have so many things that i want to achieve just like every year, personal goals, bettering myself as a person, career goals, expanding my blog, working towards my future and also partaking in more volunteer work. It doesn’t matter how many you have, write them all down.

LUSH Blogger Event 2015

This post is a bit late but it’s better late than never I guess. A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to attend a the LUSH blogger event, enabling the chance to see some of the Christmas product launches, seeing product demonstrations and also getting to make my very own product, which I got to take home with me.

I always saw many of the bloggers I follow attending LUSH blogger events and I love their products, I mean who doesn’t so I am very happy that I had the chance to be a part of it.

First impressions, the store was set up beautifully and the staff were very welcoming and bubbly, which made the event even better and we were also welcomed with drinks and nibbles! We begun with general chit chat and awaiting for the other bloggers to arrive and then we had introductions with one another, and it was nice to meet some bloggers in my local area.

We then got stuck in starting with making our very own Butter Bear’s they are super cute. I actually haven’t got around to using mine yet i’m thinking i will save it for one of my home pamper days.

This then followed by the introduction of popular products over the Christmas period along with product demonstrations.

You can see a short video below to see what I got up to during the event!
